Vinted Members Share Displeasure Over Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration due to a modification that led to items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Social Media Backlash
Countless users and merchants have taken to social media saying Vinted listings now show a different size category compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Sizing System Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
Member Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
A different member, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they may become frustrated," she said.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the sizes on "every single listing".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users.
It has proved a popular alternative compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time when a surprising modification to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options following member complaints.
